Charlie Pridesome Nursington, I'm about to go out the screen door, but I got a warning for you: there's a bear that I've set loose that is gonna get you unless you're always thinkin' 'bout the bear, so I advise to you always be thinkin' 'bout the bear. Well, I gotta go! The screen door's a-flappin' and I like the feeling of wind against my leathery face ... Goodbye, Charlie Pridesome Nursington! You're a great little kid. And someday, you'll win in a fight against me. Charlie's daddy had to go to discover his megafeelings, megafeelings! He couldn't live in the shell of his former self anymore; he had to discover his megafeelings! Megafeelings Megafeelings To put it more directly: if only these walls could talk, but – [laughs] – they're covered in blood! Ain't that crazy?

(lyrics by Kalen Egan) In the back of the caravan In a dented bowler hat He sneezed like he'd invert his head And I tried to keep from hating him He jiggled his bottle of medicine Spooned it with apparent care Then sneezed and soaked my shirt and vest And I let myself start hating him This caravan is so compact Why doesn't anybody act? Brings out a bottle of vap-o-rub Such an unlikely mistake He's smearing brie across his chest And I feel my fist connect with him There's cheese across your body, sir Please stop sneezing, sir It's very hard to stay collected On a ride as long as this We eject him from the moving car He's rolling down the mountain We're taking a such a sharp turn now He's crashing through the ceiling This caravan is so compact Why doesn't anybody act? How can a man exist in such blissed out ignorance? Is he a man? Everybody has to act Is he a man? Everybody has to act

Takin' a stroll in my brand new threads Where would I be without my meds? Probably stupid in a hospital bed I'm a rich motherfucker with a brand new hat Moved from the big sky country where my uncle was a dental floss tycoon He gave me $65 and told me to write him if I didn't see him soon Now I realize not all of us are born with a silver spoon And that's why I'm offering to fuck your wife on your honeymoon I'm a rich motherfucker with a shiny gat I don't wanna hear such language I won't cut you any slack and don't you dare use that other word I don't care where you grew up; you're not black Now help me with my suitcase; it's full of pot I gotta take this crazy thing called a plane home, and I wanna get fucked up before I get high I'm a rich motherfucker I'm a rich motherfucker I'm a rich motherfucker and I like to sing about that I like to sing

Bank job: not an alibi Where was I on the night of the crime? Two hands: can't get the blood off Shouldn't have gotten it tattooed on Why do girls get off with mental illness and guys always got to go jail? Why does fear eat the brains of the vulnerable Guilty teen The smell: burning clothes I wish it wasn't my black jeans The fear: murder makes you lose your sight Though I didn't go blind in '93 Why does fear eat the brains of the vulnerable and strong people seem to work it out? Love must not be for the faint of heart Guilty teen Three girls: they are not girls now Or are they still somehow girls? I don't know but girls girls girls girls Girls girls girls stiff girls girls girls Why does passion seem to cause a blackout? Love must not be for the faint of heart I'm not gonna start this over No more teen

Gonna fill my garden basket with burdengrass and hate Gonna cast my vote for the summer time where experience makes you late Gonna step right into a mansion where sunlight melts the wind Gonna glue my pennies on a fountain, float a flywheel on a pin! Everybody wins! Holy shit! I'm not a minister! Everybody wins! Holy shit! Empty the register! Gonna run right out of the woman, gonna let her take move from the inch Gonna fill my room with CD-Rs and the money for my honey in a pinch Gonna breed me some dogs using magic, put some wallpaper on the wall Gonna catch your body from a building, point a floodlight towards a mall Everybody wins! Holy shit! I'm not a leader! Everybody wins! Pass the baby from the breeder! Gonna make a little sandwich, make a song or grant a wish Gonna heal a sickly child with a microphone and a dish Gonna help a hired presto press the premium default Gonna spill a nasty ladder, cut a cat and throw some salt Everybody wins! Holy shit! A fucking sentence! Everybody wins! Crime is my only penitence!

I came with a message about the tattoo on your face Get that tattoo removed immediately and put it in a different place Your bassist is comin' to visit and he's gonna wanna play the bass He's got a brand new concept of rhythm and a real intuition for space Oh, Spray Paint's saying, "Baby, spray your loneliness all over my chest" Spray Paint, oh, baby, Spray I love you the best Don't you wanna love me? "Oh, yeah That's funny I remember you You were drivin' that car I was walkin' I don't know you say – How do you say it?" I came with a message about the fourth wall for your house That fourth wall isn't coming, so you might want to move south The winter is arriving and it's gonna make your face feel cold and then your children are gonna grow to be old Spray Paint's saying, "Baby, spray your loneliness all over my chest" Spray Paint, oh, baby, Spray, I love you the best Won't you say you love me, baby?

Tamra Lynn 03:36
Tamra Lynn was known to drink from a personal basement of wine She used to be a nun, but I changed things, and now Tamra is mine She used to breed nothing, now she brews spirits If she wants to take a break after a short day, I won't hear of it Tamra Lynn She and I don't end and we certainly don't begin She was twenty-six, and I was forty-two We started a little life together and then we had six of you After I died, there was a war that ended in July She stuck to the Lord like a burr sticks to cloth; that part always makes me proud and cry Tamra Lynn She and I don't end and we certainly don't begin Tamra's on the beach tonight Tamra's at church tonight Oh-whoa-oh Tamra Lynn was buried far, far away from me Sometimes I hear her singing through a big machine that sends her soul to the open sea "Bring your body closer to mine!"

She has to sell the ranch The guitar teacher lied to her about licensing Her grandmother and great aunt wait in the kitchen with the others who have passed on The women left her the ranch Ghosts can't haunt her The law can't touch her What has gotten her is her fear of expanses She can't cross intersections Roadways disturb her She is emotionally unfit for public service She can't feel disgrace It's just not social And besides she lives a very private life The deed in her hand Her mind on the goal She is aided by her surviving relatives But wait ... Please wait ... Hesitate ... Hesitate ... The unknown is a factor in every decision! Her brother waits at the lawyer's office The transfer to the new owners is complete She is dropped off at the civic center Where she attends a large concert The fans on the grass outside They are dressed in modern fashions She makes a wish on a fountain that the event was just for her and her sister

A. I knew a girl, her name was Freedom She cut my hair and she dyed it pink She kissed my face and I told her to get lost That's the price you pay for knowing me I knew a girl, her name was Harry Dean She was gonna teach me what true love means I bought her a dinner, never heard another word Reading in the restaurant, ripping pages out of magazines Handing our plates back to my waiter, saying this is all the food we need I'll never forget the look on his face when he said this to me: "You're gonna die, you're gonna die, you're gonna die" B. I knew a girl, her name was Nancy She was in plays and she liked to read She touched my shoulder and I said "no." That's the price you pay for knowing me I knew a girl and her name was Power She was gonna teach me how to surf the sea We got to the beach, never heard another word Visibility's a trillion, I can see past London back through my body, back to London again I'm gonna make the UK my friend but there was a British man getting a tan and I'll never forget his golden skin glimmer as he said to me: "You're gonna die, you're gonna die, you're gonna die" C. I knew a girl, her name was Magic She was gonna teach me how to look real cool We got the thread, the design and the needle But then she tried to fuck me and I said "uh uh." I knew a girl and her name was Stanley She was into cycling and had seen some mountains Just the other day I heard she was doin' okay. When she would go cycling she would radio me, sunny She would smile and she'd tell me that she likes this next life I would never push that button 'cause that morse code I'm not lovin' And Stanley, she just rode away, but I knew her friends liked planes And I'll never forget the white of that skywriting: You're gonna die, you're gonna die, you're gonna die D. I knew a girl, her name was Stacy She liked dreams and she liked to listen I told her I dreamed a lot about grass She said it was because I never go outside Stacy said, "John, you need to build a forest. It'll be a bureaucratic nightmare, but you can do it. Also, do you wanna hook up?" No, Stacy, I do not wanna hook up with you. It gets harder and harder to say no I don't send any signals but my non-signals say "go" So I fucked her, oh I fucked her, yeah I fucked her, oh I fucked her E. Later that day, I went out to this place by the woods It was where they made kids' cigarettes Also they taught Spanish to underprivileged white kids there It was across the street from where I'd fill up my tank I smoked a pack of Marlboro's waiting for the sun to set I looked out onto Route 10 and I wonder how long it would take me to get to Loews' 12 This 15 year old kid walks up to me and asks me if I wanna buy his scooter I looked into his eyes and ran my hand through his hair He said, "They call me Andy because I'm a cowboy I service jocks in the Field House." His eyes were brown, I was 17 I was startled by the sight of the winter trees and the sound of a cursing machine: "You're gonna die, you're gonna die, you're gonna die." F. I knew a girl, her name was Freedom We'd lie in bed and weird out my roommate She kissed my face and I avoided her That's the price you pay for knowing me Sitting in that dorm room or getting my head held by her in the stairwell Her asking me if I wanted to get it over with Her sitting on my bed watching me cry as I lost my mind 'Cause I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die

about

The last vocal Goodbye The Band album to date, featuring the accompaniment of an "insane player piano" (maniacally arpeggiated tack piano samples) for the first half and an assortment of sounds (an '80s love ballad about Martin Luther and Katharina von Bora, referred to here as "Tamra Lynn," an abrasively formant-shifted anxiety-attack synth-pop song, a quarter-truthful autobiographical sad-sack ballad and a glitchy 7 minute Doors mood parody) for the second.
